How Dental Insurance Works
Every person’s dental insurance policy represents a unique contract between you and your insurer. In order to provide accurate estimates of the out of pocket costs of your dental treatments, we’ll need to review your policy. In most cases, patients receive the following coverage:
- 100% preventive care covered
- Minor restorative care around 70%-80% covered
- Major restorative care around 50%
What is the Difference Between Dental & Medical Insurance?
Medical and dental insurance policies vary in a number of ways. Perhaps the most obvious way they differ is in the treatments they cover. Dental benefit plans provide the greatest amount of coverage for preventive services to avoid oral health concerns. Medical benefits are typically geared toward ongoing maintenance for chronic illnesses as well as handling medical emergencies.
In-Network VS Out of Network Dentistry
At Summit Family Dentistry, we’re happy to process and file dental insurance plans for both in-network and out of network benefit plans. Our knowledgeable team members always do their utmost to ensure your coverage is maximized and your out of pockets cost are kept to a minimum whether or not we’re in-network with your insurance plan.
We are in-network with a variety of benefit plans. As in-network provider, we agree to charge fees for our services that fall within your plan’s set maximums. This means you only need to pay for the out of pocket costs of your covered dental treatments. We are in-network providers with the following plans:
- BAI Dental
- Delta Dental
- Gateway Health
- United Concordia
Out of Network Coverage
While we may not know or have a standing agreement to charge your plan’s set pricing, we offer affordable dentistry services, and our team members always do their utmost to provide treatments that fall within your plan’s allowed fees for service. If you ever have questions or concerns about your benefits, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We’ll be happy to answer your questions and work with your dental benefit plan to help you get the most out of your insurance.
