Checkups & Cleanings
Keep Your Smile on Track
A checkup and cleaning is our opportunity to make sure your smile is clean and free from tooth decay, gum disease, worn dental work, and other issues that put your oral health in peril. Dr. Dinesh Patel, your Erie County dentist, recommends that patients of all ages should come in for this routine visit at least every six months — maybe even more if you are at a higher risk of tooth decay or are dealing with chronic gum disease.
Even if you don’t think anything is necessarily “wrong,” checking in with us on a regular basis can help make sure it stays that way! During a routine dental visit, our hygiene team will take X-rays to get a complete image of your mouth before removing all the plaque and tartar that has had the chance to build up on your teeth and around the gum line since the last time you came in. We will also closely monitor your periodontal (gum) health, checking for any deep pockets between the teeth and gums that could indicate gum disease.
After your teeth are sparkling clean. Then, Dr. Patel will come in for your examination. By performing a tooth-by-tooth evaluation of your smile and evaluating the X-rays, he can take note of any potential problems and provide treatment before they turn into major issues. We can put together a treatment plan for restorative care to get your oral health back on track as soon as possible. Of course, if there are no issues, we will simply send you on your way with plans to see you in about six months.
When was your last visit to your dentist in Erie County? If it’s been more than six months, you are overdue — please do not hesitate to get in touch with us to schedule an appointment at Summit Family Dentistry today!
